What Are We Doing?

What are we doing?

I find myself asking this question a lot.

We, as a people, as the human race, as God’s children…What are we doing?

We do so much to hurt each other.

To hurt ourselves.

To hurt God.

Consciously and unconsciously.

We get so wrapped up in what we think we are supposed to do, have to do,

that we forget to slow down,

Reconnect

and do what we were created to do.

Love. Be present. Connect.

We have to be willing to get still.

We have to be willing to get quiet.

We have to be willing to listen.

Listen in.

Listen within.

We are so used to noise.

Background noise.

Car noise.

Crowd noise.

We wear noise like a blanket. Protecting us from the devastating chill of silence.

Even in our moments of “rest”, we cocoon ourselves in noise.

Humidifiers. Air Purifiers. Fans. Sound Machines.

We get uncomfortable when things get quiet.

When things fall silent.

When we’re able to hear our own souls whispering to us, reminding us who we really are.

So what are we afraid of?

Hearing our own inner voice?

Being alone?

Hearing someone else?

Realizing that we are not alone?

Whatever it is, it’s enough to keep us busy with the volume cranked up,

pulsating on every frequency,

every chance we get.

What are we doing?
